Live-In Caregiver/Roommate (Old Town, Fort Collins)

January - March 2025:

In exchange for covering the night shift (4-5 nights/week), you’ll receive a fully furnished bedroom, a separate hall bathroom, shared groceries, utilities, and high-speed internet/Wi-Fi, totaling approximately $1,800/month.

Responsibilities
You’d be home 10 pm–6 am (when I sleep) and able to respond in case of emergency.

  • Position me on my side at 3 am (takes ~5 min). Otherwise, you could sleep.

  • Past healthcare experience is not required.

  • Caregiver Evenings: 8:45 pm - 10:30 pm (Tue, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun)

  • Caregiver Dinners: 5:30 pm - 7 pm (Tue, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun)

  • Transport from work (often paired with morning/dinner shift)

  • Recreational Companion and Caregiver

Pay: $18-25/hour, depending on education, certifications, experience, and shift (mornings/evenings require skilled care).

Responsibilities:

  • Transfer between wheelchair and bed using a patient lift (no physical lifting).

  • Bathing, dressing, hygiene, grooming, colostomy care and catheter care

  • Assist with positioning, exercises, massage, and range of motion/stretching.

  • Help with meals (preparation, eating, and cleanup).

  • General housekeeping: cleaning, laundry, etc.

  • Transport/accompany to work or appointments and assist as needed.

  • Other tasks as agreed upon in the work agreement.

JOB LOCATION:

A mixed-use building in Old Town, Fort Collins, Colorado, just one block from Washington Park and Lee Martinez Parks, and a mile north of Colorado State University on the Mason corridor, which has bicycle and pedestrian pathways, and just across the street from the Downtown Transit Center and public transportation—the Max bus rapid transit and other options going to Boulder and Denver. Fort Collins, Colorado was recently ranked the best place to live in the USA. It is a beautiful, modern, spacious, 95% furnished 1,056 square foot, 2 bed, 2 bath unit with secure entrances, exits, elevator, and underground parking garage (with storage and bicycle parking). The unit has high ceilings and large closets. A large kitchen, dining, living area separates master bedroom from second bedroom and bathroom, providing privacy. There’s a nice view – above the trees and most buildings – and large windows and a balcony, providing nice views of old town and the mountains! There’s a state-of-the-art kitchen with stainless steel appliances–gas stove/range, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer in unit, and central heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans, high-speed Internet, and Wi-Fi.

ABOUT YOU / QUALIFICATIONS: 

You are seeking a live-in caregiver/roommate position. I need someone responsible who I can rely on. We’d be sharing a home, so we should get along. You should be kind, intelligent, caring, empathetic, compassionate, respectful, and willing to learn/help, calm under pressure and in case of emergency, flexible, mature, emotionally stable, self-sufficient, dependable, clean/organized, and goal/detail oriented, and have a good/positive attitude, good observation and communication skills, and physical endurance.

  • At least 18 years old.

  • Authorized to live and work in the United States.

  • Available to work nights with infrequent/planned absences to ensure coverage.

  • Have current drivers license and safe driving record.

  • Speak and write in English at an intermediate or advanced level.

  • Willing/able to pass a complete drug screen and background check.

  • Some experience in health/medical field and/or patient care is preferred.

  • Have received COVID-19 vaccine and can provide vaccination card.
